Now Is The Time You Should Be Expanding Your Library At GameStop
4 for $20 and 4 for $40 are both going on right now!
As time marches on, I find myself in GameStop stores less and less each year. There used to be sales more often on pre-owned titles, combined with the 10% discount that used to be given to “Pro Members” it was a no brainer. But, leadership has changed, that discount has gone away and has been replaced by a $5 off coupon that is good once each month. Still decent, but I would spend way more with the 10% off discount then I do today. But I digress.
Currently, GameStop has brought back two awesome sales for anyone looking to expand their video game library. 4 for $20 on all pre-owned games that are $9.99 and under, and 4 for $40 on all pre-owned games that are $19.99 and under. Sure this would eliminate newly released titles such as God of War: Ragnarok or Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, but allows you to dig into the back catalog of systems to acquire some gems that you may have missed. Note: While all of my finds are for the PlayStation 4, the sale extends to all platforms, as long as you meet the price criteria.
I first traveled to three GameStop stores in my area last weekend. I could not find anything I liked at the first sore, but came up with this haul at the second and third stores:
Rounds 1 and 2: 4 for $40 (Pre-owned games under $20):
Abzu
Batman: The Enemy Within
Bravo Team (Got returned, more on that in a minute)
Devil May Cry HD Collection
Devil May Cry 5
L.A. Noire
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner Mars
All games I thought were in great shape, until I realized that Bravo Team had a card stock laser printed reproduction insert (that wasn’t even cut correctly). Somehow I missed that, and is an unacceptable specimen for my collection. So I vowed to return it.
Today, I went to a fourth GameStop to return Bravo Team, and decided to check out their selection of games that would qualify for the deal. This led to even more finds, with acquiring these below:
Round 3: 4 for $20 (Pre-owned games under $10):
Astroneer
Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition (DLC Voucher Unused!?!)
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
Skylanders Trap Team
With my monthly $5 coupon, I ended up spending under $85 for a total of 11 games, that’s less than $8 a game! I believe I got a hold of some real gems too. I have never played a Devil May Cry game, so now I have plenty of reasons to try them out. Also, Skylanders Trap Team is now hovering around $50-$60 used, so that was a good buy as well.
It’s unclear how long this sale will last, but it’s worth checking out if you are looking to expand your library, especially for last generation platforms. The sale is also valid online on the GameStop website, but be aware that you may not receive the original cases or cover art for any of your titles you select. Good luck and happy game hunting!
